For the last few years I have been involved with a very interesting Home Based business. Our Product is a System that Allows you to Send REAL Physical Greeting cards from the Internet. It’s a great tool for Realtors, Mortgage Brokers, Attorneys, Sales People , Auto Dealers. Small Business Owners. Anybody that has clients or customers that they need to keep in touch with can use our system. And its great for personal use as well
But its much more than just a Greeting card system. We have Gift cards from various merchants such as Starbucks, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc that you can enclose within a greeting card. But that’s not the point of this post!
One of the things that we do in this business is perform random acts of kindness by sending Greeting cards and gifts to people for no reason other than to make them happy. We call it the “Unexpected Greeting card” and gift.
So one thing I have committed to this year is to send out as many Unexpected greeting cards as possible and AT LEAST ONE GIFT PER WEEK. My favorite gift to send is brownies because they are absolutely Incredible!

A lot of people get caught up in a popularity contest on Social media. I’m very guilty of this myself. But we have to remember the most important thing.
Every “Friend”, Every “Follower”, Every “Subscriber” is a living breathing Human being.
I just got the following message on Facebook …

Do you know that you are one of the very FEW people who actually responded with a note or email or writing on the wall after I initiated to connect on facebook? I say this because it’s so rare and I mean it as a compliment. Those who blindly accept my friend request and never bother to say hello or even interact with me in any way — well, I delete.

p.s. I’ve been thinking about joining send out cards for close to 9 months and couldn’t decide under whom I should sign up – I now have the answer.
So because I treated somebody as a person and not a number I made a great new friend and potential business partner!

Where are you from?
I currently reside in Kissimmee Florida (15 minutes from Disneyworld) We moved down here from Brooklyn NY in Oct of 2003. The first summer we were here (2004) we had 3 hurricanes. It was the first time they had hurricanes in Central Florida in 40 years. We were ready to pack up and move back to NY!

I am very happily married. No kids. we have two dogs, A Llahso Apso named Puffin and a Bichon Frise named Bijou. We also have 4 Lovebirds.

What are your favorite Bands?
I like classic rock. The Eagles. Beach Boys, Beatles, 38 Special, Pat Benatar, Night Ranger, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner,, Journey, Reo Speedwagon are some of my favorites.

I enjoy playing guitar, singing, listening to music, going to the beach, traveling, meeting new people, going to concerts and other stuff.
Why did you move from NY?
It’s a long and winding story. Bottom line is I lost my Job in 2002 and couldn’t find another one. After trying a few businesses up in NY with little success we sold everything and moved to Florida for a fresh start. At first things were not so good here either and we struggled. I tried several businesses and some Real estate investing. Lost my shirt and things got VERY VERY BAD.
In April 2004, after getting rid of all the Real Estate I started focusing on a Home Based Business. In less than 6 Months i had built in into a Full Time Income. I wrote a book about my experience. You can get a Free Copy Here: The Six Month Miracle.
How did you get so many Followers?

How do you keep track of such a large Twitter Network? Do you ready ever Tweet?
Yes I ready ever single tweet what comes across my timeline. OK I’m kidding. I do read my @Replies and Direct Messages and try to reply to as many as possible. (I do Get a lot as you can imagine. If you really want to chat with me just give me a call at 407-567-7007. I don’t bite! That number is actually a voicemail that I check quite frequently and I will get back to you. I try and connect with several of my Twitter associates every week on the phone.

How do you have so much time for Twitter?
Because I am permanently unemployed … lol As I mentioned earlier I have a Home Based business that allowed me to pull myself out of very dire financial situation and create a Full time income from home. Much of the business involves networking with people. So while it looks like i am just having fun goofing off on Twitter it does serve a business purpose as well.

Is Your business Network Marketing aka Multi-Level Marketing or MLM?
Yes. I have been in the Network Marketing industry since 1994. I even wrote a book called ‘Navigating the World Of Network Marketing with my partner Diane. I realize that MLM may carry a bit if a “stigma” with certain people but the bottom line is it works. The main question to ask is this: “Would I buy the Product or Service at the Suggested Retail Price without the Business Opportunity attached?” If the company has real customers it’s a legitimate Network marketing company. If not it’s a Money game.

At least a couple of times a day I get a DM that says simply: “How?” So let me tell you exactly what I mean by that statement …
All things being equal, People do business with those they Know, Like And Trust. (The KLT Factor) So yes it is very important to have a quality product or service but you also have to have a good ongoing relationship with your clients.
I will give you a perfect example:
About 3 years ago we bought two Jeeps. A Grand Cherokee for myself and a Liberty for my wife. We bought them at two different dealerships. The guy that sold me my Jeep handed me his business card and I never heard from him again. I don’t remember his name and I don’t remember the name of his dealership.
The person who sold my wife the car is Martha Duvalle from Courtesy Jeep. I haven’t seen Martha in 3 years but i remember her very well. Why do I remember her?
- She sends me Birthday Cards
- She sends my Wife Birthday cards
- She sends us Holidays Cards
- She Even Sent us a Happy Anniversary Card for the One Year Anniversary of Our Jeep!
So if somebody was to say to me “Hey I’m looking to buy a Jeep .. Where Should I Go? who would I recommend? Some Guy I don’t even know or Martha? Martha of course … It’s a No Brainer!
Another Example:
Several years ago they did a study. They interviewed 100 people who had just done a Real Estate Transaction, either buying or selling a house. They asked them 3 questions:
- Were you happy with the service you received from your Realtor?
- Would you do business with the same Realtor again?
- Would you refer your friends to the Realtor?
About 96% of the people were very happy with their Realtor and answered yes to all 3 questions. So the Realtors had done their job and provided a quality service
But here’s the thing …
They interviewed these same people 2 years later. 90% of them could not even remember the Realtor’s name! So just like the Guy that sold me the Jeep, Mr “Whats His Face”, these Realtors dropped the ball on followup. Instead of having a stream of referrals coming their way they had to constantly advertise for new business!

Am I a “Legendary Spammer”?
When you “put yourself out there” you sometimes attract some crazies. Many celebrities have stalkers that follow them all around. My partner Diane Walker (MLMBlonde) and I had a stalker that followed us around for several years. This person would send us strange IM messages on AOL, say bad things about us on forums and other things. This went on for a few years. We think it may have been our ex partner that screwed us over royally.
