Social Media is Not A Numbers Game
How many followers do you have on Twitter?
How many friends do you have on Facebook?
How many on your “List”?
A lot of people get caught up in a popularity contest on Social media. I’m very guilty of this myself. But we have to remember the most important thing.
Every “Friend”, Every “Follower”, Every “Subscriber” is a living breathing Human being.
I just got the following message on Facebook …
Hi Jack:
Do you know that you are one of the very FEW people who actually responded with a note or email or writing on the wall after I initiated to connect on facebook? I say this because it’s so rare and I mean it as a compliment. Those who blindly accept my friend request and never bother to say hello or even interact with me in any way — well, I delete.
Just wanted to say thanks for being recognizing that I’m actually a human being and treating me as such. Talk again,
p.s. I’ve been thinking about joining send out cards for close to 9 months and couldn’t decide under whom I should sign up – I now have the answer.
So because I treated somebody as a person and not a number I made a great new friend and potential business partner!
